The Ashes That Became a Story

Written by Annalise Monet | Jun 16, 2025 10:36:47 PM

When I started writing Ashes of Chastity, I wasn’t trying to build a world—I was trying to survive one.

This book began as scattered thoughts in the margins of my life. Notes tucked between work and rest, whispers from memories I hadn’t fully processed, questions I didn’t yet have answers to. I revised it more times than I can count. Each rewrite peeled back another layer—not just of the plot, but of me.

At its core, Ashes of Chastity is about a young woman navigating the space between power and pain, fantasy and reality, body and soul. It's sensual. It's strange. It's soaked in magic, trauma, and those quiet, aching moments when you're still figuring out if you’re allowed to want more—from life, from love, from yourself.

I poured parts of my own story into this book—the grief I tried to outgrow, the relationships that taught me what love isn’t, the spiritual contradictions that never fully settled. But I didn’t stop there. I let my imagination take over. I asked, “What if the unbelievable things we survive deserve an equally unbelievable kind of healing?” And so this world was born—otherworldly, erotic, and full of wings, fire, and second chances.

Sometimes, the only way to tell the truth is to wrap it in a lie beautiful enough to carry it.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re too much or not enough... if you’ve ever wondered where the divine meets the dangerous... if you’ve ever needed to burn down the past just to feel your own breath again—this story is for you.

🖤 Ashes of Chastity will be available September 7th on Amazon.
🖤 Advanced reader copies are available now in limited numbers.

Thank you for walking with me through the fire. I hope you find a little magic in the ashes.
